Practice finding exits with your kids. Every time you go into a building - theater, store, museum - practice finding the exits in every room. It's a great habit to cultivate. In the event of a black out or a fire it's always good to have your bearings. It's a life saver.
Make it a game, have a contest. Older kids can take pictures of all the exits they find, younger ones will be with you or another adult who can keep count. When kids learn it early on it becomes a habit.
