I just read this amazing, insightful article:
Boys who are abused grow into men. Whether they grow into men who abuse in retaliation or who heal and grow into allies and good friends, depends largely on how we frame the airing of boyhood sexual abuse.
Is it weak for a man to need to air and come to terms with something so personal? I posit that facing our moments of weakness head on is one of the harsher and therefore more courageous things we do.
I also urge women not to see men as the enemy. See the person who harmed you as the enemy. Stereotypes of men as bullies and instigators of violence cripples us all and keeps the discussion from moving forward.
